1. This journal primarily focuses on educational theories, practical issues in education, and research findings in education. It is included in the “Taiwanese Humanities and Social Sciences Core Journals” (TSSCI), as well as international databases including SCOPUS, DOAJ, EBSCO, ProQuest, and others. Manuscripts must be in either Chinese or English.

2. The journal publishes four issues annually (March, June, September, and December). Special issues may also be published as necessary. Manuscripts related to curriculum and instruction, educational policy and administration, educational philosophy and history, sociology of education, and other related fields at various educational stages are also welcome, with no restrictions on research methods.

3. All types of manuscripts submitted to this journal must be previously unpublished and demonstrate originality. The types of submissions and corresponding word limits are as follows:

(1) Research Papers: These include original empirical or theoretical research papers. The maximum word count is 25,000 words for Chinese manuscripts, and 10,000 words for English manuscripts.

(2) Academic Critical Reviews: These consist of systematic and comprehensive reviews and critiques of relevant literature on specific educational academic topics. The maximum word count is 25,000 words for Chinese manuscripts, and 10,000 words for English manuscripts.

(3) Issue/Practice Critical Reviews: These include systematic, comprehensive, or empirical discussions and critiques on important educational issues or practices. The maximum word count is 25,000 words for Chinese manuscripts, and 10,000 words for English manuscripts.

(4) Research Notes: Research notes can report empirical research findings, discuss methodological issues, and propose solutions. The maximum word count for the full text in Chinese is 20,000 words, and for English, it is 8,000 words.

All submissions must undergo review according to the journal's review process.

4. The editorial board of this journal will also invite scholars from various fields to write "Book Reviews," "Issues and Trends," and "Comments and Responses." "Book Reviews" primarily focuses on books published within five years. "Issues and Trends" mainly provides forward-looking reviews on emerging issues and development trends in educational research. "Comments and Responses" primarily involves commenting or responding to articles recently published in the journal or other important works.

5. The journal accepts submissions year-round, and manuscripts are reviewed on a rolling basis. Preliminary review results are expected within three months of the initial submission.

6. The Editorial Board of the journal will also issue public calls for submissions to special issues and may invite scholars with recognized academic reputation in the field to contribute manuscripts. Proposals for special issues are also accepted (details can be found at http://bulletin.ed.ntnu.edu.tw/news/index.php?mode=data&id=160). The review of submissions for special issues follows the journal’s standard review process.

7. Author Guideline
(1) Submission:
i. Upload manuscripts through the online submission system (in Microsoft Word compatible format) at: http://jrs.edubook.com.tw/BER/index_login.zul?locale=en.

ii. Fill out the author’s basic information form and the copyright agreement form (http://bulletin-en.ed.ntnu.edu.tw/content/?parent_id=20, in PDF format), and send them to the journal at edber@deps.ntnu.edu.tw.

(2) Format for Chinese Manuscript Submission: The first page should include the Chinese title, abstract (1000-1500 words), and 5-7 keywords. The second page should include the English title, abstract (up to 700 words), and 5-7 keywords. both the Chinese and English abstracts should include the following items: (1) research objectives, (2) main theories or conceptual frameworks, (3) research design/methods/participants, (4) research findings or conclusions, and (5) theoretical or practical insights/contributions/recommendations. Each item should be listed separately, and if any item is not applicable, please indicate accordingly.

(3) Manuscript arrangement: The manuscript should be arranged as follows: Chinese abstract, English abstract, main text (with footnotes on the same page), references, and appendices. If there is an acknowledgment, it should be added after the notification of manuscript acceptance, placed after the main text, and should not exceed sixty words.

(4) Personal information should not appear in the main text or abstracts. Manuscripts with personal identification will be rejected.

(5) Footnotes and references should follow the latest APA format. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in rejection or a request for revision before re-submission. However, non-English references may be presented in their original language without translation.

(6) If the manuscript is a revised version of a master’s or doctoral thesis, it must be stated upon publication, indicating the name of the supervising professor.

(7) For jointly authored papers, the sequence of authors should be determined based on the contribution ratio, and the contribution ratio of each co-author should be provided.

(8) Upon agreement to publish, authors must provide an English translation of the Chinese references. The following instructions apply:

i. Each English translation of a Chinese reference should be enclosed in “【】” and listed below the respective Chinese reference.

ii. If the Chinese reference does not have an English translation, authors may provide a transliteration or translation as appropriate.

iii. The format for English-translated references should follow the latest version of the APA writing format.

iv. Authors should use the “DOI Comparator” to match the cited references (available at http://www.airitischolar.com/doi/search/) and send the comparison results, along with the modified full text, back to the Editorial Board.

8. If the manuscript passes the preliminary review, the author(s) should pay an administrative processing fee of US$ 70 per article. Manuscripts that fail to complete payment will not be considered for external review. However, invited articles are exempt from this requirement.

9. Once a manuscript enters the preliminary review stage, no additional authors can be added, nor can adjustments be made.

10. If a manuscript is submitted to multiple journals simultaneously, violates academic ethics, or infringes upon the copyright of others, the author(s), in addition to bearing relevant legal responsibilities, will be prohibited from submission to this journal for two years.

11. The journal adopts an anonymous review system, with two scholars or experts appointed by the Editorial Board conducting the review. Manuscripts requiring revision, as indicated by the reviewers, should be revised by the author(s) and reviewed by the Editorial Board before publication.

12. The journal reserves the right to make textual revisions to accepted manuscripts as necessary for editorial purposes.

13. Once accepted for publication, if English articles or abstracts require editing as deemed necessary by the journal, the author(s) must arrange for professional editing. If the journal finds the manuscript still unsatisfactory after editing by the author(s), the journal will arrange for further editing at the author’s expense, with the actual cost incurred.

14. Once a manuscript (including invited manuscripts) is accepted for publication, the author(s) should pay the publication fee. Failure to complete payment will result in the manuscript not being published, and the author(s) will be prohibited from submissions for two years. The publication fee is calculated in two ways:

(1) If the manuscript’s acknowledgment section indicates that it received funding from the National Science Council or other organizations, the publication fee is US$ 170 per article.

(2) If the manuscript does not receive any funding (including no acknowledgment of funding), the publication fee is US$100 per article.

15. Once a manuscript is published, the copyright belongs to this journal. Reproduction or publication requires the journal's permission. The author(s) also agree(s) to authorize the journal to distribute the full text in print, on CD-ROMs, or online, and to further authorize the “National Central Library Remote Book Service System” and other databases with which the journal has signed cooperation agreements to disseminate and use the data, and to make necessary format modifications. The journal will present the author(s) with a copy of the current issue (if the manuscript is jointly written by more than two people, up to three copies may be provided), and will also provide the author(s) with the edited electronic file of the article instead of additional compensation.

16. Withdrawal Policy:
(1) Requests for withdrawal from the author(s) must be made in formal written documents, and sent to the journal by mail or email. The withdrawal will only take effect after confirmation and reply from the journal.

(2) To avoid resource wastage, any manuscripts submitted to this journal that request withdrawal without valid reasons during the review process will not be accepted for submission within two years, and administrative processing fees will not be refunded.

(3) Authors must complete the revisions requested by the journal within the specified deadline and respond accordingly. If difficulties arise, authors must notify the journal by email or written notice within the deadline and return the revised manuscript by the new deadline set by the journal. Otherwise, it will be considered as self-withdrawal.

(4) Authors requiring an extension of the revision period due to significant modifications must apply for an extension in writing to the editorial board. The extension will only take effect after a reply from the journal. Failure to complete the revisions within the deadline will also be considered as withdrawal.

17. These regulations will be implemented after approval by the Editorial Board of this journal, and revisions will also follow the same process.
